Crush It for Cancer Frequently Asked Questions

A. Crush It for Cancer will be taking place Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the Ottawa Conference and Event Centre.

A. The registration fee per person is $35, and it counts towards your fundraising total! However, there is no tax receipt issued and no refunds are available.

A. Parking will be available free of charge on the day of the event.

A. We recommend that you bring a water bottle, a government-issued piece of photo I.D. in case of emergency, as well as different payment methods (cash, debit and/or credit card) for shopping at the marketplace during the event.

A. You will be provided a Crush It cinch bag to keep your personal belongings and water bottle with you. The rest can be coat checked upon arrival at the event.

A. Yes, coat check will be available when you arrive.

A. We recommend athletic wear or any other type of clothing that you are comfortable exercising in. A light jacket or long sleeve shirt would also be appropriate to wear for wellness activities like meditation.

A. There are no change rooms, but there will be washrooms you can use if you need to change clothes.

A. Participants can expect to explore a variety of popular new fitness classes and to recharge with activities like yoga, meditation and shopping at the Wellness marketplace. Each activity is 25 minutes long and teams will move in a circuit to participate in each activity offered. Check the Crush It website for information about activities and instructors. .

A. Everyone is welcome to participate! You do not have to be an athlete or be physically fit to participate. You are free to go at your own pace during any of the exercises. Just bring your best energy and have fun!

*Please note it is recommended that you contact your physician before starting a new exercise program.

A. Yes. Lunch will be provided. If you have any food allergies which need to be accommodated, please email the events team at by March 1st.

A. The Wellness Marketplace is a big highlight for many participants, where you can check out unique health and wellness products for 25 minutes as part of the Crush It circuit. You will have the chance to explore and purchase unique products and services from businesses from the following categories: beauty, health and wellness, fashion & style, travel & adventure, world of taste, and house, home, & design.

A. No. You may register alone to create a one (1) person team.

A. Your team will share a fundraising goal for this event. Participation and fundraising is more fun in a group, so get your family and friends together to join you! The team goal works out to be an average of $800 per participant.

A. Once you have registered, you will have access to the participant centre of the website there you will find:


  • Personal URL - link to your personal page. Team and co-captains will have access to the team page and the team URL.
  • The ability to post a picture or video message and/or write your personal message of why you are participating. Same for the team page.
  • Crafted emails to help your network to support you by donation plus a crafted thank you letter.
  • A report to see who has made a donation and if you have thanked them yet

And you will also receive:


A. It is more about your determination to achieve the goal and your fundraising activity than if you achieve or exceed the minimum. After all, this is a fundraising event; you are committing to helping families living with cancer!

A staff member will be checking in with you every step of the way with our monthly to bi-weekly calls, so there will be no surprises on event day if you have not achieved the goal. You will have the chance to voice your concerns well in advance and will know where you stand with participating. A. Yes. You can record them in one of 2 ways:

1. In person on a pre-check in day (date to be announced) or the morning of the event on March 30. Please make sure that all cash donations you collect are contained in one envelope when you arrive. You can record your donations on a pledge sheet. Please print a copy.


2. You can add cash donations to your page inside your online participant centre. A special coaching email on how to enter these “offline donations” will be sent after you register. Please be sure to save this email so you can refer to it when you need it.

A. Your fundraising efforts support better cancer care and hope for a cure through the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. The Cancer Foundation is exclusively dedicated to improving and saving the lives of people touched by cancer in our community through our support of Cancer Coaching, research, and clinical trials.

100 percent of funds raised in this community stay in this community. We are committed to the most important issues in the field of cancer care and will always direct funds to the areas where they will have the greatest impact for families facing cancer in our region.
